Common wisdom has it that the future is for the most part beyond our control and that, at best, we can predict what will happen and make the right decisions to take advantage of opportunities or shield ourselves from negative events. Clearly, there is a general view that we can change our future with our decisions but for the most part this might affect our individual future rather than the collective future.
At "Intelligent Collaboration", we propose a different perspective:
Through Intelligent Collaboration, we create the future. We can build the future we want and not only our individual future but the general collective future as well. Predictions are no more than possibilities that only occur when we accept them. Our environment changes in accordance with the vision that we build, project and enact through collaboration.
This contention is not new. Spiritual traditions have long spoken of the power of faith and this is a possibility in which many wish they could believe but which few actually do believe and even fewer use. Here we are taking about a leadership that creates the world in which we live and conduct business.
We will cover four areas of action that, jointly, represent Intelligent Collaboration:
- Co-create – Co-operate to imagine, prototype and refine innovation that works
- Lead - Provide intelligent leadership to uncover and manifest new opportunities
- Serve – Follow someone's lead whilst co-owning the vision and the outcomes
- Negotiate – Fight or retreat, achieve success through opposition
